The planets are all loaded up on one side of the chart right now, which will have its ways of drawing certain elements of life to the forefront. Some things will be stable and can almost be left alone to run on autopilot, while others can turn into a source of stress and strain. It's important to note that with Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter all grouped up, there's going to be these underlying transformations occuring within people - these things have been going on for a while now, but this is a time where you might run into issues with them. Venus connects to the bunch as well, which lumps in the question of whether we're fulfilling our wants and needs.

This isn't the easiest energy to deal with, because often times the real problems we're facing here are those existential questions of purpose and our greater direction. You might have people asking themselves "Why are we even doing this?" much more often. And sometimes, there might not be a good answer. It's at those times where you need to say to yourself "Am I just moving straight ahead out of routine, rather than in the direction of some sort of goal?" If the answer to that is yes, then start looking to do things differently. With Mercury retro, it's a time to examine these paths and find the silly ways we've been doing things, acknowledge the lunacy in some of it, and make the necessary adjustments. That's very limiting in the sense that you're often going to put too many eggs in particular baskets, and some of these goals probably aren't even ready to pursue yet. You're going to need to fully understand situations going on around you, and often this means having others give you a shot of sense when you're seeing things from too narrow a viewpoint. They can help you expand your horizons to see paths you're missing on your own.
