Looking out only for yourself won't go over too well and it's the sort of things that can force people to be accountable. Otherwise, if the ship is going to go down, those sinking can try to make sure no one else is bailing on them. It's better to fight the common enemy than amongst ourselves.

It can still be an emotional period as well, though that's fading a little. Try to make decisions in the moment rather than based on lingering feelings. This is where people can get off track today - trying to make up for things that have happened before (occasionally retribution/payback sorts of deals), but it's better to just let things go and move on. If you try to talk a big game, people will start expecting you to back it up too.
