There's this thought in the back of your mind here that a lot of your relationships need to be multipurpose - you enjoy hanging out with someone, but they also perform some kind of function for you. For people with no function, you might go trying to find them one and that's when the problems are going to start. For anything revolving around getting things done, make sure you're dealing with people who want to be involved. And for people who don't, just hang out with them socially when you have the time.
