Writer's block is a concept most people are familiar with, even if they don't write. It's knowing you should write something, but nothing comes to mind. You can sit in front of the computer and just stare at the empty screen for a while, but nothing happens. The current energy is a lot like that, though for many different aspects of our lives. We have an idea of projects we want to complete, but there's no way to link where we presently are to the end of those endeavors. As such, a lot of people can feel bored or unmotivated. Taking any kind of step forward can seem like it's not worth the hassle. And in the end, not a lot will get done and things will kind of languish in stasis.

If you want to break out of that, the key is to do something. It doesn't have to work. It doesn't have to be pretty. It might not even have a particular plan driving the decision to do it. But in the end, doing something is better than doing nothing. A lot of times our best ideas and plans come when we're bored, mired in the monotony of things we don't want to do. So don't think of it as working to get something done, think of it as working to spark a better idea to get something done. When things are moving, even a little bit, you create new angles, perspectives and options for a better plan, leaving you in a much better position. Best of luck.

As they say with shovels and holes, if you're in a hole, stop digging. You can be compelled to work here, but all of the effort you're putting in can tend to get you deeper into a situation you don't want to be in, rather than helping to escape from it. Then you end up having to balance ideas like sunk costs into the mix if it turns out poorly, further driving you to stick with your current plan. It'll take more mental effort up front, but making sure you're on a solid course before you start working will help you avoid these situations where you can't seem to get out of them.
